Could you survive at Uni without your funding from your parents? According to the Guardian 60% of students would have to drop out of university if they did not receive cash handouts from family and friends.
This is an alarming statistic and shows how the cost of further education is only increasing with time. It also suggests that students are also not saving enough for their time at university. One of the things that I want to hit home with people reading this blog is that in order to go to university and not live in squalor you need to have a plan. You need to start being in control of your finances or you risk going into expensive debt and possibly risk dropping out of university.
For those that are reading who have not yet started university you need to start earning extra money and saving some of that money for your future. It doesn’t sound glamorous but personal finance isn’t about how you appear, it’s about feeling secure in your future and ensuring every option is open to you.
